Our History
The seeds of The Master Greening Company can be traced back to 1978 with the establishment of Wendell Trading Company, whose central mission was to give Singapore garden and golf course managers access to the best fertilizers, pesticides and chemicals sourced from across the globe.
Once firmly established as Singapore’s leading supplier of Agrichemicals, a sister company Propest was formed to provide world class landscaping and construction services to meet the demands of the top-tier golf courses and public gardens in Singapore.
Propest brought superior knowledge and technology to the category, and introduced the concept of performance accountability in its management of key projects, laying the foundation for the meticulous and demanding standards we apply today, and every day, at The Master Greening Company.
Whether it is our state-of-the-art equipment, our application of science, our staff training and management practices, or the millimetre perfect precision with which we mow each green, we demand and deliver excellent results.
Today, we are renowned for bringing out the best in golf courses, gardens and natural spaces.
New Generation Care
The principal driver behind the innovation and rigour The Master Greening Company brings to landscape and garden management is Doris Wee, our Managing Director.
Doris exemplifies the new approach to the management of nature and natural spaces. University trained, with extensive management experience in major multinational organisations, Doris brings scientific discipline, passionate customer focus and high-performance accountability to the industry.
She understands and demands the best of technology and science for optimal nature management, as well as the attention-to-detail and responsiveness required to support her clients’ business success.
She represents the new generation of landscape and garden management.
What Drives Us
We believe that time spent with nature has a profoundly positive effect on human wellbeing and is a beneficial antidote to modern life.
Frank Lloyd Wright once said, “Study Nature, love Nature, stay close to Nature. It will never fail you.” This poetic dictum has been supported by extensive research over the years, which shows that spending more time in and around nature has profound benefits for your physical, psychological, social and spiritual well-being. (M. Richardson, 2016)
That’s why we have made it our purpose in business “to work with nature to create natural experiences that people value, and return to”.
It’s also why we invest in the best knowledge, technology and people to create and maintain your natural experiences at their best.
Whether for members, customers or staff, effort spent nurturing your nature, is effort well spent in nurturing your business.
Our Greening Philosophy
A consequence of our fast-moving world with its fast-food, and fast-fashion, has been the practice of ‘fast-nature’, as we call it.
This is the practice of keeping gardens and golf courses looking good through a ‘plant-die-replace’ cycle, using parallel nurseries to provide a constant supply of new plants to keep gardens looking healthy, rather than nurturing existing plants and lawns to their fullest potential.
The outcome is an expensive mix of plants at various stages of decay only achieving an ‘average’ quality of nature rather than the lush and verdant growth that nurturing each plant and lawn to its healthiest can bring.
At The Master Greening Company, we take pride in not having parallel nurseries because we don’t need to. Our well trained teams employ the latest proven agronomy, arboriculture and horticulture practices to monitor and manage all aspects of growth so each plant reaches its best and stays there.
We ‘grow and green’ your gardens and turf into stronger, sturdier, lusher growth, which is healthier for both your business and your budget.
Staying Ahead
To win against the best requires the highest skills, the best equipment and unrelenting dedication to continuous improvement. Just ask any leading golfer.
That’s why we invest in maintaining the highest levels of training, the latest equipment and the very best products. Without fail.
And we’re always evaluating the best of the next wave of technology, such as floating head mowers for higher precision, hybrid-power mowers for a cleaner environment and GPS-based spraying to optimise coverage and minimise wastage.
We even expect to be using robotic mowers and equipment in the not-too-distant future.
All of this allows us to deliver a cleaner, greener environment to better support your sustainability goals.
